JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Wellston Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office worked together on December 28 to apprehend an individual wanted on drug charges and seize several grams of suspected Fentanyl packaged for sale.
A multi-agency investigation was launched following reports of drug trafficking from apartment 75 at Bundy Heights in Wellston. When police arrived at the apartment, they made contact with Matthew D. Perry, the current occupant. There were multiple warrants issued by the Municipal Court for Perry’s failure to appear, including one for probation violation. Seven grams of suspected fentanyl, packaged and labeled for distribution, were found during a probation search of the apartment.
The Wellston Police Department has charged Perry with Possession of Drugs and Complicity in Trafficking in Drugs, both felonies in the third degree, and he is currently being held at the Jackson County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.
