ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Drugs and a sawed-off shotgun were taken off the streets by law enforcement.
According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Athens Major Crimes Unit stopped a vehicle along State Route 682 on December 29.
Joshua Willie, 26, of Trimble, was contacted by deputies. Criminal indicators, officials say, were detected during the stop. It was discovered that Willie was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun within the vehicle, said Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith. Willie was removed from the vehicle and arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed the gun was concealed behind Willie’s driver seat, as well as suspected methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia. Willie was transferred to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and booked for Possession of Weapons Under Disability a 3rd Degree Felony, and Possession of Drugs, a 4th Degree Felony.
