ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Law enforcement officers had a scare on Wednesday afternoon after being exposed to what they believed to be a deadly drug.
Officers with the Chillicothe Municipal Court Probation Department were potentially exposed to the deadly synthetic opioid, Fentanyl during a probation check on Malone Road in Ross County.
The Center for Disease Control says Fentanyl “can be absorbed into the body via inhalation, oral exposure or ingestion, or skin contact.” The drug is deadly if ingested in small quantities and is commonly used in the manufacturing of street drugs.
It is not clear how the officers came into contact with what they believed to be the drug. EMS responded and assessed the officers, who appeared to be stable.
The incident remains under investigation.
