ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the suspicious death of a Ross County man.
According to reports, deputies were dispatched to Rosewood Court for a welfare check on Monday.
Deputies said they spoke with a resident who said the person they were checking on was not home.
Later that day, authorities received word that the vehicle belonging to Richard Charland, 47, was found in Paint Creek State Park.
Law enforcement responded to the park and located the vehicle. Upon further inspection, deputies found Charland inside the vehicle covered with a blanket. Reports say the doors to the car were locked. Deputies used their batons to break the car window to get to the subject, who was deceased.
Officials said that no obvious signs of self-inflicted trauma were found, and the case was turned over to detectives.
No further details were immediately released, and the case remains under investigation.
