ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Drugs and counterfeit money were found during a raid in Athens County.
According to reports, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 7 Beech Road in The Plains on January 7th, 2022, following an investigation into drug trafficking and counterfeiting. Suspected heroin and methamphetamine were seized, as were digital scales and packaging materials.
Sheriff Rodney Smith stated, “Authorities also seized over $30,000 in counterfeit US currency and motion picture prop money, as well as printing materials used to fabricate counterfeit currency.”
Ashley L. Hamilton, 38, of The Plains, was arrested and charged with Counterfeiting, a 2nd-degree felony, and Possession of Controlled Substances, a 4th-degree felony.
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens Major Crimes Unit investigated this case with assistance from the Athens City Police Department and Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.
