ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Deputies responded to Barkers Towing and Salvage on Blain Highway Monday after receiving information that a wanted man was at the business driving a stolen vehicle.
According to reports, deputies approached the man, who then attempted to flee. The deputy, officials said, then gave chase to the fleeing suspect. The driver then proceeded to travel down Blain Highway at a high rate of speed. The suspect continued to flee from law enforcement before finally coming to a stop on Arrowood Road.
The deputy, reports said, ordered the driver, later identified as Jacob Wilt Jr., to exit the vehicle at gunpoint.
Wilt complied with the deputies’ orders and was taken into custody. Court records show Wilt had an outstanding warrant in Chillicothe.
Shortly after the driver was arrested, the owner of the stolen truck arrived on the scene. The vehicle Wilt was driving had been stolen earlier in the month from a business on Douglas Avenue.
Jacob Wilt told deputies that he had purchased the truck for $250 just a few days prior.
Wilt has been charged with receiving stolen property, obstruction, theft, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a peace officer.
He remains in jail on a $20,000 bond. The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner.
