PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Multiple fire crews responded to a reported fire Monday evening at the Sofidel Plant in Circleville.
According to initial reports, smoke was seen pouring from a piece of equipment at the plant. The facility makes paper and was opened in 2018 and employs 700 people.
Firefighters on the scene said the facility’s emergency plans had been activated and employees of the toilet paper factory evacuated. The outdoor temperature was 28 degrees.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation and no further details were immediately available.
