CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man is under investigation for arson after investigators say he attempted to burn down his father’s home.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers with firefighters from the city’s fire department responded to the 600 block of Glencroft Avenue Tuesday evening.
Officers with the police department said they found a pile of burning clothes in the front yard of the east-end residence.
The homeowner told police that his son had visited earlier asking for cigarettes. The father then told the son, reports say, to “get a job.” That is when the son became angry.
Another individual who reportedly lived at the residence said that the homeowner’s son then threw items into the stove and said, “There mother f****, I’m going to burn the house down.”
The Chillicothe Fire Department provided the Guardian with a copy of the arson report that said the son fled the residence after throwing clothing into the oven.
Police say he returned to his father’s home a short time later and told those inside that the house was on fire.
The stove, reports say, was being used to warm the house before the fire.
Officials say the case remains under investigation, and charges could be forthcoming in the incident.
