FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A crash involving a state road crew and a FedEx delivery truck shut down a highway in Fayette County.
It happened Monday morning when the eastbound lanes of route 35 were being worked on by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) just past route 753 at the Fayette and Ross County line.
The ODOT vehicle had been working along the highway when it was struck by a FedEx semi. Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth said the driver of the semi had to be cut from their tractor-trailer. The Sheriff said he did not believe any state employees were seriously hurt.
A time frame for the reopening of the highway was not provided.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The names of those involved and the extent of any injuries were not immediately released.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area as crews work to clear the scene.
