SOUTHERN Ohio — Several counties across the Buckeye State are experiencing 9-1-1 outages.
The first outage in southern Ohio occurred in Pike County shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike County Sheriff Tracy Evans announced it on social media. Shortly after, Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman and Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew Hafey stated that their respective counties were also seeing outages.
Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood announced 9-1-1 outages in his county, as well.
In Pickaway County, Sheriff Hafey stated the problem is with Frontier Communications. Technicians, according to the sheriff, are working to resolve the issue. After being restored early Tuesday afternoon, 9-1-1 service went down again in Scioto County, Sheriff David Thoroughman said. He said Frontier was also the culprit.
A timeline for the restoration of 9-1-1 services was not immediately available, though just after 5:30 p.m. Pike County was able to restore their calls.
If you’re in a county impacted by the outage, law enforcement said to dial their respective landline number or use a phone provider not connected to Frontier.
Across northern Ohio, multiple counties are experiencing a large outage, too. According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, an outage linked to Frontier Communications in their area is affecting that portion of the state.
Frontier has yet to comment on the outage.
