WILMINGTON, Ohio — Severe weather, flooding, and cold temperatures are on tap for much of Ohio.
National Weather Service forecasters warn of a threat of flooding and severe storms for the Scioto Valley on Thursday afternoon and early evening. Meteorologists say a tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch and a wind advisory for much of the area.
Heavy rainfall over the morning hours brings the chance for flash flooding. Officials say residents near creeks, rivers, or flood-prone areas should monitor conditions and be ready to evacuate if needed.
A tornado or two remains possible across portions of the Lower Scioto Valley. Conditions south of route 50 remain favorable for tornadic development, says the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
In addition to the risk of severe weather, temperatures will plummet overnight, increasing the possibility of a flash freeze going into your Friday workday. Windchills will be in the lower teens for most of the area.
Residents across the area should remain weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
