FRANKFORT, Ohio — A large presence of law enforcement had two areas of a highway restricted near Frankfort in Ross County.

The scenes were buzzing at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night with deputies, troopers, and detectives. It all centered around a call an hour earlier of a home burglary with shots fired along County Road 550. When law enforcement got to the area, things advanced.

“Ross County Sheriff’s Office requested [the highway patrol]’s assistance in an active burglary on 550,” said Sergeant T.D. Vollmer with the highway patrol.

“Upon our arrival at the scene, neighbors of the house that was burglarized pointed to a vehicle that was attempting to leave the area. Trooper Finley and Trooper Muck initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was slow to stop. All five occupants were placed into custody without incident by us and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.”

Five people were reportedly detained, troopers said. Troopers did not confirm if there was a shooting.

No other information was immediately available.
