CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Fake money continues to circulate in Ross County. One local gas station received a bogus $50 bill on Wednesday. This money, reports say, was not “movie prop money.”
A third-shift employee at a Bridge Street gas station in Chillicothe reported receiving a possible counterfeit $50 bill from a customer.
The Guardian spoke with the business manager, who said that the $50 bill looked like real money. “There was nothing written on it saying that it was prop money.”
The manager told the employee to perform a counterfeit pen test on the currency. It was at that time that they realized the money was fake.
According to Dri Mark Products LLC. (a maker of counterfeit test pens), “a counterfeit detector pen is a chemical test which distinguishes the type of paper used for printing money.”
Police seized the counterfeit currency and placed it into evidence.
