CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A family was held hostage in Ross County on Thursday.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers responded to East Second Street for a home invasion. The residents of the home told police that four masked gunmen kicked in the family’s back door and held them at gunpoint.
The suspects were described as young men dressed in all black. In a statement provided by police, the victims said all four men wore ski masks and were carrying handguns.
The family, reports say, were held at gunpoint while the intruders ransacked the home. After the violent incident, witnesses told police the four men got into a black SUV and drove toward East Main Street.
Police officials say officers patrolled the area but could not locate the suspects’ vehicle. At the time of the home invasion, police said four young children were in the residence.
