ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio — An officer with the United States Marshal’s Service is in critical condition after a confrontation near the Pike and Adams County line.
It happened Friday morning, just before 10 a.m., in the 2300 block of Dry Bone Road.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Officer Adam Slusher with the U.S. Marshal’s Service was executing an arrest warrant as part of a fugitive task force when they came into contact with 48-year-old Keith McGuin of Pike County. According to Pike County Sheriff Tracy Evans, during a confrontation, McGuin drove over the officer while trying to flee. Reports say deputies on the scene then opened fire to stop the man.

McGuin led Pike County deputies on a high-speed chase within the county before ramming a Pike County Sheriff’s cruiser on Bevers Ridge Road. The suspect and his passenger, 31-year-old, Casey Stevens, of Piketon, were taken into custody.
MedFlight was called for the officer, who received a serious leg injury.
Officials say Keith McGuin faces several serious felony charges including, attempted murder, and felonious assault on an officer.
Sheriff Evans said additional federal charges are pending.
