WASHINGTON, D.C. —- President Joe Biden spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.

White House officials say the nearly two-hour-long conversation between the two leaders focused on the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the call, President Biden outlined the United States’ position on the continuing crisis and warned China of the consequences of providing material support to the Russian Federation.

In the past week, reports have surfaced saying Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on China to provide military equipment to Russia to help further its war efforts. Russian officials have denied the claim.

The Chinese government has been critical of the United States regarding its continued military support of Ukraine and the recently imposed sanctions against Russia.

In a statement on Thursday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed the Biden administration’s concern that China may provide military equipment to Russia.
