ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — An employee with Athens County Children Services is in custody today.
According to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, Jamie Mays has been charged with felony obstruction of justice.
Reports say the Athens County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating the alleged rape of a child that had been in the custody of CPS when Mays provided false information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, who was also in CPS custody.
Authorities said that Mays had interfered with the ongoing investigation.
She is currently being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
The case involving Mays and the alleged rape remains under investigation.
