NEW YORK CITY, New York — A New York judge has held former President Donald Trump in contempt for failing to submit documents as part of a subpoena. This is part of the ongoing investigation into Trump’s business.

Judge Arthur Engoron said the former President will be fined $10,000 a day until he complies.

“Mr. Trump, I know you take your business seriously and I take mine seriously. I hereby hold you in civil contempt and fine you $10,000 per day until you purge that contempt,” Engoron said on Monday.

A written decision with a start date for fines is expected on Tuesday.

Trump’s attorney Alina Habba said that Donald Trump plans to appeal the courts decision.

Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General, has been investigating the Trump Organization for over two years. She previously said that her office found numerous misleading or fraudulent statements in the Trump Organization’s financial disclosures.
