BRANSON, Missouri — The country legend who inspired the movie “Urban Cowboy” died Saturday in Branson, Missouri.
Mickey Gilley Associates issued a statement saying, “He passed peacefully with his family and close friends by his side.”
Gilley is the cousin of legendary rock ‘n’ roll patriarch, Jerry Lee Lewis.
Over the years Gilley has scored several number one songs as well as appearing on several popular television shows.
