CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A woman is safe and a man is in custody after he allegedly held her hostage with ties and shackles.
It all went down in Ross County at around 2:30 p.m. near Nipgen.
A homeowner in the area called 9-1-1 after he said he found a woman on his lawn with shackles around her ankles and ties on her wrists in distress, saying she had been abducted and just escaped. When deputies arrived they found the woman hysterical, who told them she had been tied up and held against her will.
Deputies worked with troopers and Chillicothe Police Department to track down a truck the woman described, which was pulling a camper.
Law enforcement located a man pulling the camper along route 772 headed toward Chillicothe. Deputies tried pulling the driver over, but he gave a slow pursuit; at sometimes trying to ram law enforcement. The chase ended up in an alley behind Paint Street near Fourth Street where the pickup and camper jackknifed. That’s where law enforcement took the male driver, later identified as 45-year-old Anthony Jernee, into custody, while the woman-victim was taken to the hospital. Also arrested was 48-year-old Terri Diaz. Her involvement, according to victim, was helping the man keep the victim at knifepoint.
How the woman escaped her alleged captor and where they originated from were not immediately released.
Both were taken to the county jail to be interrogated by deputies.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This story has been updated to include the additional arrest of Terri Diaz.
