Clinton County, Ohio — The suspect in the attempted break-in and subsequent shooting at the FBI Field Office in Cincinnati has been identified as 42-year-old Ricky Shiffer of Columbus.

Shiffer according to his social media posts was angry at the recent FBI raid on former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. On Truth Social, a social medial platform created by Trump, Shiffer confessed to the attack. Posted at 9:29 a.m. on Thursday, “Well, I thought I had a way through bulletproof glass, and I didn’t. If you don’t hear from me, it is true, I tried attacking the F.B.I.”

The FBI is also looking into Shiffer’s possible involvement in the January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol. Images have surfaced online, showing what appeared to be Shiffer actively involved in the January 6 attack.

Ricky Shiffer was eventually killed by law enforcement following another exchange of gunfire as agents attempted to move in, and take him into custody.
