WAVERLY, Ohio — 50-year-old Charles Jeffrey Meddock was arrested by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday for an outstanding drug possession warrant. Authorities say he is a person of interest in a recent homicide and car theft.
On Thursday, August 4, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 5000 block of route 220 in Waverly for a suspicious death. The victim, 42-year-old Derrick Lansing, was found deceased inside the residence. A firearm owned by Lansing, officials said, was missing from a gun holster he was wearing as well as a silver Kia Forte sedan.
The Guardian spoke with the family of Lansing, who said, “He looked like he had been in a fight when they found him.”
Officials have not released the cause of death, citing an ongoing investigation and autopsy.
