CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A manhunt is currently underway just north of the city of Chillicothe along Route 104.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, troopers along with corrections officers from the Chillicothe Correctional Institution are searching for an individual who was last seen near the prison’s property.
Authorities say that corrections officers were notified around 10 a.m. of two suspicious individuals in a field near the prison. Guards quickly responded to the area and spotted the two subjects, who then fled on foot.
One person, troopers say, was located and detained. The second person remains at large.
The Ohio Highway Patrol confirmed that an aviation unit, as well as drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras, were requested for the field near the prison.
No additional details have been released at this time.
