CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who fled from the Ross County Court of Common Pleas, injuring a deputy in the process.  

The incident happened earlier this morning after deputies attempted to arrest the man.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Davon L. Rayford, fled the area and was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a blue and black logo, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. He is described as an African American male with black hair, brown eyes, and 165 lbs. 

The deputy, according to reports, was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their name and the extent of any injuries were not immediately released.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency.

UPDATE: Sheriff George Lavender said Deputy Keith Knox a veteran of the Sheriff’s Office suffered a concussion as a result of the incident. Officials say that Knox has been released from the hospital and is at home resting. Rayford remains at large.
