CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police in Chillicothe are looking for a man who is accused of using a hammer to assault two other people.

The incident happened Monday evening on the city’s east side.

According to a police report obtained by the Guardian, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Fourth Street after a caller said that his girlfriend’s brother had attacked him.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with one of the victims, who was bleeding from his head. The suspect, identified as Jefferson Coy, reportedly attacked the victims with a hammer after the couple refused to give the man money.

Officers with the Police Department said the victims both had noticeable head injuries. Medics from the Chillicothe Fire Department were requested to the scene, but the victims declined transport to the hospital.

A warrant was requested, officials said, for Jefferson Coy for two counts of felonious assault and one count of domestic violence.

The case remains under investigation.
