LANCASTER, Ohio — A Lancaster, Ohio, woman and her boyfriend have been charged with six counts of kidnapping after she took her children from their grandparents and went to Florida.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Ashley Holter, and 26-year-old Nicholis Adams took the children from the grandparents, who reports say, had legal custody of the children.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office in Florida released a statement saying, “On the evening of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Walton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Florida Highway Patrol in reference to a minivan involved in a parental kidnapping.”
The sheriff’s office said that deputies found the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop near the Bob Sikes Road overpass on Interstate 10 in DeFuniak Springs. The children, the sheriff reported, were dirty and had not been fed in several days.
Holter and Adams were taken into custody and charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Walton County Child Protective Services took custody of the children whose ages ranged from an infant up to 9 years of age. Officials in Florida are working to reunite the grandparents with the children.
