LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — Police in Ashland Kentucky has arrested the suspect in a deadly shooting in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Dashawn L. Evans, 34, was arrested yesterday in connection with a shooting incident that took place on December 18 in Chesapeake, Ohio. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Evans since the shooting, and he was taken into custody without incident at the Delta by Marriott Hotel in Ashland, Kentucky.
According to reports, Evans and his neighbor, 33-year-old Sharmin M. McAllister, got into an argument during which Evans brandished a handgun and shot McAllister. McAllister was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, and her body was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
Evans has been charged with murder and will be held in the Boyd County Jail pending extradition proceedings. The Ashland Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the shooting.
