ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A local man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for the violent attack on his girlfriend.
Zane Roosa was originally charged with one count of kidnapping, and two counts of felonious assault. Roosa took a plea deal that dropped the kidnapping charge and reduced the felonious assault to aggravated assault. He was also given 396 days of jail time credit.
It all started on New Year’s Day, 2022. According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on George Hollow Road after dispatch received a 9-1-1 hang-up call. Deputies believed the call sounded suspicious and responded to the home where the call originated from.
Upon arrival, reports say, deputies made contact with a male resident who said that his 3-year-old child had accidentally made the call. Deputies, sources said, did not believe the man’s story. Upon further investigation, authorities determined that a violent physical altercation had taken place.
Roosa reportedly fled from the home, leading law enforcement on a foot pursuit.
The suspect managed to get away from the deputies but was later picked up by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
