SCIOTO VALLEY — High winds continue to wreak havoc across much of the Buckeye State this afternoon.

Much of the Scioto Valley is under either a Wind Advisory or a High Wind Warning until 7 p.m. this evening.

Several downed trees across the area have caused traffic delays, according to local law enforcement officials.

In downtown Chillicothe, a small section of a roof collapsed. Police are asking motorists and residents to avoid the area around the building.

American Electric Power is reporting nearly 6,000 customers are currently without power. The South Central Power Company is also reporting over 4,000 outages.

High winds are part of a low-pressure system and approaching cold front, says the National Weather Service.
