Robert Theodore Greenwalt, 86, of Kingston, passed away on February 7, 2023 at his residence.
He was born on June 1, 1936, in Chillicothe, the son of the late George Arthur and Harriott (Armbruster) Greenwalt.
He is survived by his brother, Jack (Viola) Greenwalt; nephews, Dave (Cherie) Greenwalt and Denis (Glenda) Greenwalt; great-nieces, Britany (Chandra) Greenwalt and Madison (Triston) Greenwalt; great-nephews, A.J. (Harley) Greenwalt, Shay (Aubrianna) Greenwalt, Shad Greenwalt and Gunnar Greenwalt; and a handful of great-great-nieces and nephews and other special family members and friends whom he cherished.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Dumm.
Robert graduated from the Centralia High School Class of 1954. He began serving his community at 18 when he became a volunteer firefighter with the Green Township Fire Department where he served for 68 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as Military Police and during the Korean Conflict.
Robert became a Ross County Deputy Sheriff in December of 1957 and continued to be a part-time Deputy until his passing, only moving to part-time after accepting a position in the State Fire Marshal’s Office in March of 1968. He would serve in the arson bureau of their office until he retired after 27 years.
Robert was a long-time farmer on top of all his public service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Hill’s.
