FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio Highway Patrol was injured in a serious crash Monday morning.
Trooper Adrian E. Wilson of the Circleville Post, the patrol said, was seriously injured in a crash, on northbound Interstate 71, near state Route 665 in Grove City.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Columbus Post is currently investigating the incident. It happened around 10:44 a.m.
Wilson had been outside his cruiser, removing debris from the road with emergency lights activated, when a 2021 Toyota RAV4 driven by Alea Weil of Marietta, Georgia struck the back of the cruiser, causing it to move forward and hit Wilson.
Both Wilson and Weil suffered serious injuries and were taken to Grant Medical Center.
Authorities said that alcohol and/or drug impairment is suspected to have played a role in the crash.
