FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office successfully recovered a stolen vehicle, thanks to the efforts of a vigilant patrol deputy.  

On February 19, 2023, a deputy attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger, which was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed on Hill Road in the city of Pickerington. However, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop, leading to a chase. 

After a brief pursuit, the deputy located the vehicle, which had crashed and was on fire, in front of 8486 Hill Road NW. The driver and two passengers were pulled from the car by the deputy and taken to local hospitals due to injuries sustained in the crash. 

During the incident, it was discovered that the driver and passengers were juveniles. The vehicle they were driving had been reported stolen in Columbus, Ohio. The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the theft and the involvement of the juveniles in the incident. 

Sheriff Alex Lape praised the quick thinking and bravery of the patrol deputy, who was able to recover the stolen vehicle and prevent further harm to the community. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the community in reporting the incident and helping law enforcement in their efforts to solve the case.
