ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Southeast Major Crimes Task Force, and Athens County Prosecutor’s Office have successfully identified and arrested three individuals involved in the theft of mail in Athens County.
Sheriff Rodney Smith praised the efforts of citizens who provided information, photos, and videos leading to the identification of the suspects.
On February 16, 2023, a search warrant was served at 512 Pearlwood Road, Albany, where hundreds of pieces of stolen mail were recovered, and information was confirmed on the three primary suspects, Jessica O’Rourke, Joseph O’Rourke, and Brionna McDaniel. Jessica O’Rourke was interviewed and charged with Forgery, Receiving Stolen Property, and Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity.
Brionna McDaniel and Joseph O’Rourke were later arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Forgery, Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity, and Burglary, respectively. The recovered items are being inventoried to identify more victims who may not be aware of the theft.
