ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A traffic stop in Ross County led to the seizure of a large amount of suspected narcotics.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday Deputy Oberer of the sheriff’s office was on patrol along Route 23 near Rozelle Creek Rd when he stopped a vehicle for multiple traffic violations.
Deputy Oberer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Marvin Puckett, 59, from McDermott, who did not have a driver’s license and was wanted by the Waverly Police Department.
Puckett was placed under arrest while a Sheriff K-9 unit responded to the traffic stop.
K-9 Garka alerted deputies to the presence of drugs within the vehicle.
During the search, deputies located a plastic bag containing suspected Fentanyl and another plastic bag containing approximately 224 grams (about 7.9 oz) of suspected Methamphetamine. Drug paraphernalia was also located inside the vehicle.
The passenger, William Walters, 46 years old from Otway, was also wanted by the Adult Parole Authority and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arrested for his warrants and both men were transported to the Ross County Jail.
Additional drugs, the sheriff’s office said, were also found in Puckett’s pants. Both men were also charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges, the sheriff said, are pending the outcome of lab tests.
