CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man returns to court today for a change of plea hearing.
Jefferson Coy, 57, faces two counts of felonious assault stemming from an incident in October of 2022.
The Guardian reported on the attack that left two people injured. According to reports at the time, officers with the Chillicothe Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of East Fourth Street after a caller stated that his girlfriend’s brother had attacked him.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with one of the victims, who was bleeding from his head. Coy, police said, reportedly attacked the victims with a hammer after the couple refused to give the man money.
Officers with the Police Department said the victims both had noticeable head injuries. Medics from the Chillicothe Fire Department were requested to the scene, but the victims declined transport to the hospital.
Coy was indicted on February 2, 2023. He remains in custody at the Ross County Jail.
