ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A two-vehicle accident that occurred early Monday morning in Ross County, Ohio, has left one person injured and the roadway blocked for several hours.

The Freightliner semi-tractor and trailer were being driven by 29-year-old Austin Mason from Lucasville, Ohio. Mason, troopers said, was traveling westbound on Route 35 when a Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, driven by 39-year-old Brandon Martin from Bidwell, Ohio, struck the rear of the semi-tractor and trailer.

The force of the impact caused the pickup truck to overturn on the road while the Freightliner came to a stop on the roadway. The westbound lane of Route 35 was shut down for nearly two hours, causing traffic delays during the morning rush hour.

Scioto Township EMS responded to the scene and transported Martin to Adena Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Mason, on the other hand, was unharmed.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist with the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

The accident is still under investigation, and the cause is yet to be determined. As of now, it is unclear whether speed, distracted driving, or any other factors played a role in the collision.

The Chillicothe Patrol Post has reminded motorists to always pay attention to their surroundings while on the road and to drive safely and cautiously to prevent accidents like this from occurring.
