CHICAGO, Illinois — Former Cincinnati Mayor and iconic talk show host Jerry Springer has passed away at the age of 79. Springer, who was born in London, England in 1944, is known for hosting the popular tabloid talk show “The Jerry Springer Show,” which aired for 27 seasons, starting in 1991.

Springer began his career in politics, serving as a councilman and mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, in the late 1970s. He later transitioned to broadcasting, serving as a news anchor and commentator for WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, before launching his talk show in 1991. The show featured sensational and controversial topics, which drew widespread attention.

Apart from his work on “The Jerry Springer Show,” Springer appeared in several films and television shows, including “Ringmaster,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “America’s Got Talent.” He was also a guest host on “The Wendy Williams Show.”

According to TMZ, Springer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago and passed away at his Chicago home on Thursday. Family spokesperson Jene Galvin described Springer as a people person who connected with everyone, and his loss is deeply felt.
