CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Officials have confirmed the identity of human remains discovered by two mushroom hunters near Chillicothe on Thursday, April 20. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the grisly find near Paint Creek along Cooks Hill Road on Thursday, April 20.

According to the Ross County Coroner’s Office, the remains have been identified as 48-year-old John Franklin Alexander of Chillicothe. Alexander was reported missing during the summer of 2021, with his last known sighting on August 20, 2021.

As of now, the official cause of death has not been released, and Alexander’s death remains under investigation. The coroner’s office has stated that foul play is not suspected at this time.

This discovery highlights the ongoing issue of unsolved missing persons cases in Ross County, as numerous such cases are still awaiting resolution.
