CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department was actively investigating several theft reports that occurred across the city on Wednesday. Authorities responded to various incidents throughout the day, as concerns over the abundance of property crimes continue.
The first incident took place at Houch’s Liquor Store, where officers were dispatched shortly before 9:30 a.m. following reports of a theft.
Later in the day, officers were summoned to the lobby of the Ross County Law Complex after authorities in Columbus informed them about the recovery of a stolen motorcycle from Chillicothe. The collaborative efforts between the two police departments helped in resolving the case.
At approximately 3 p.m., law enforcement officers were once again dispatched, this time to Walmart on River Trace Lane, in response to another theft report. Simultaneously, officers met with an individual at the Law Complex about a vehicle theft incident reported from Central Center Hardware.

Many in the city are left wondering what can be done to stop the continued increase in crime rates. One resident commented on social media, that Chillicothe has a “catch and release policy,” blaming the area’s prosecutors and judges for allowing alleged criminals to get a slap on the wrist.
