PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A dead body was found early Sunday morning in Pike County.
Deputies were called to the 9000 block of state route 772 after passersby called 9-1-1 saying a man was dead in the roadway and covered in blood.
When deputies arrived they initially believed the man had been hit by a car, which fled the scene. However, without knowing the exact cause of death, the Sheriff called for the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) to the scene.
The man’s name has not been publicly released. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Deputies said they have leads on potential suspects and that the death may revolve around a fight involving trespassing.
Parts of state route 772 were restricted as investigators worked the scene.
