FREEDOM, New York — A tragic car accident on Saturday resulted in the death of two young passengers, leaving the community in mourning and families grappling with unimaginable heartache.

New York State Troopers responded to the scene just after noon to find the twisted wreckage of a 2006 Dodge Ram and a 2005 Ford Focus on Freedom Road. The Dodge Ram, driven by 21-year-old Evan Klink, had veered off its path and directly into the Ford Focus driven by his sister, 24-year-old Dahlia Klink.
The Klink siblings were traveling in opposite directions when the head-on collision occurred. According to investigators, Evan Klink intentionally crossed the center line, losing control of his vehicle and colliding with his sister’s car.
Tragically, two passengers in Dahlia Klink’s vehicle, 17-year-old Havanah Lopez and 6-year-old Molly Kibler, were pronounced dead at the scene. Dahlia Klink and a 4-year-old passenger, whose identity is yet to be released, were airlifted to the hospital by Mercy Flight for treatment of serious injuries. The condition of the 4-year-old passenger remains critical.
Evan Klink sustained injuries from the accident and was treated before being transported to SP Warsaw for further evaluation. His passenger, 19-year-old Cameron Klink, was also airlifted to the hospital by Mercy Flight with grave injuries.
The devastating accident has rocked the tight-knit community of Freedom, leaving them searching for answers as to how such a tragedy could occur among one family. As of now, the reasons behind Evan Klink’s purposeful diversion across the center line remain unclear.
The crash scene is still under active investigation as local law enforcement, along with accident reconstruction experts, work diligently to piece together the events leading up to the event.
