CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man was found shot on Tuesday afternoon in Chillicothe.

It happened at around 5 p.m. on route 35 near the Main Street exit.

Passersby called 9-1-1 to report that a man was “laying in the highway and bleeding.” When first responders arrived — along with troopers they learned a man was shot while reportedly walking on a trail, while pushing a bike after leaving a nearby homeless camp.

While law enforcement could not confirm the man’s statement of events to be true, he told troopers the alleged shooter fled the area.

It was not immediately released how the shooting unfolded or if the man was purposely targeted.
