FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — Congressman Mike Carey (R-OH) has secured the successful allocation of $3.5 million in funds for vital infrastructure projects in Fayette County, Ohio, through an appropriations process.
Recognizing the importance of infrastructure for the county’s continued economic growth, Congressman Carey expressed his pride in securing the funds, emphasizing his dedication to making Fayette County an even better place to live, grow, and raise a family.
A significant portion of the grant, $2.5 million, has been designated to expand Bluegrass Boulevard in Fayette County. The expansion aims to boost development around Fayette County’s industrial park, a move that will greatly benefit the site of the forthcoming LG/Honda Electric Vehicle battery facility.
Regarding the allocation, Congressman Carey stated, “The expansion of Bluegrass Boulevard is a crucial step in fostering economic development in Fayette County. This investment will support the growth of local industries and promote job opportunities for our community.”
Additionally, the village of Bloomingburg is set to receive $1 million of the grant, which will be utilized to establish a new water treatment plant. This critical infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance Bloomingburg’s water treatment capabilities significantly, according to the Mayor.
Mayor Donald Fleak of Bloomingburg expressed gratitude to Congressman Carey for his unwavering efforts in securing the grant. “The funding for the new water treatment plant will enable Bloomingburg to make much-needed updates to our water infrastructure,” Mayor Fleak remarked. “We appreciate Congressman Carey’s dedication to our community and his advocacy to ensure that Fayette County receives its fair share of support from Washington, D.C.”
The secured grant of $3.5 million is contingent upon the successful passage of an appropriations measure. This funding forms part of a larger $26.7 million grants package that Congressman Carey successfully secured for the people of Ohio’s 15th district.
The investment in Fayette County’s infrastructure projects is poised to have a far-reaching and positive impact on the region’s economic development and the quality of life for its residents, Fleak said.
