ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — The Southeast Major Crimes Task Force conducted a series of investigations on Tuesday, focusing on criminal activities in The Plains, Chauncey, and Millfield. The Sheriff, Rodney Smith reported that multiple persons of interest were located and questioned in connection with the reported crimes.
During the operations, the task force also carried out drug interdiction enforcement, targeting residences and vehicles in known drug areas, as well as individuals with outstanding Felony Warrants.
The following individuals were arrested during the operations and were subsequently transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. Additional charges will be submitted to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office for grand jury review:
- Earl R. McKee, 50, residing on Plum Street, Glouster, Ohio, was arrested on Felony warrants for Having Weapons While Under Disability, Receiving Stolen Property, and Aggravated Possession of Drugs.
- Aaron M. Spears, 26, residing on Monserat Ridge Road, Millfield, Ohio, was arrested on a Felony warrant for Aggravated Possession of Drugs.
Sheriff Smith expressed gratitude to the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force, Athens County Prosecuting Attorney Keller J. Blackburn, Chief Investigator Jay Barrett, Investigators from the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Athens Office of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for their assistance and collaboration in the successful execution of the operations.
The Southeast Major Crimes Task Force, an integral part of the Ohio Attorney General’s Organized Crime Investigation Commission, is a collaborative effort comprising representatives from various law enforcement agencies, including the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Monroe, Meigs, and Athens County Sheriff’s Offices; the Marietta, Belpre, Glouster, Middleport, McConnelsville, and Nelsonville Police Departments; and the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Monroe, Meigs, and Athens County Prosecutor’s Offices, along with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
