ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — New details have been released in the violent crime spree that left two people seriously injured.
Around 9:27 PM last Friday, deputies responded to a reported burglary on Blain Highway. A male and female resident had been assaulted during the break-in. The suspect, later identified as Michael Colter, Jr. reportedly forced his way into their home, claiming a motorcycle crash had occurred and demanding them to call 911. A struggle ensued between the male victim and Colter, who wielded a hammer. The female victim suffered injuries after being struck on the head. The suspect fled, causing damage to a parked vehicle.

Reports from other area residents detailed similar incidents involving the same suspect. Law enforcement eventually apprehended Colter with the assistance of an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper.

Authorities gathered DNA samples, witness accounts, and the alleged assault weapon as evidence. Colter is facing charges including Aggravated Trespass, Felonious Assault, and Aggravated Burglary. The Ross County Sheriffs Office is actively investigating the case, which has now been sent to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office.
