CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A bomb threat written in a note led to the swift action of school officials and law enforcement at Chillicothe Intermediate School around 1:00 pm today.

The Chillicothe Police Department confirmed that the threat was found to be not credible after an investigation. The student behind the note, claiming it was a joke, has since been removed from the school. Authorities plan to recommend criminal charges against the student through the Ross County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

The Chillicothe Police emphasized the importance of safety and security in the community, particularly in schools. They stressed that all threats are taken with utmost seriousness, urging parents and guardians to discuss with their children the severe consequences of making such threats.

The department also applauded the prompt response and cooperation from the school staff and the dedication of their School Resource Officers and Detectives in maintaining the safety of everyone at Chillicothe Intermediate School.
