CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — In response to a plea from concerned neighbors during a city council meeting on Monday, Chillicothe police intensified their actions by raiding a suspected drug house at 154 Race Street today, unearthing a slew of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances. Residents sought the city council’s intervention over ongoing issues related to drug activity, prostitution, unlicensed brothel allegations, and hostile living conditions, with people purportedly residing in sheds, utilizing an extension cord from a nearby dwelling for power.
Councilwoman and retired police officer Julie Preston, who also chairs the safety committee, acknowledged the concerns and assured swift interaction with the police chief on Tuesday morning. Post her discussion, urgent action was commanded, culminating in today’s search warrant execution by the Chillicothe Police Department.
Members from the Chillicothe Police Detectives Division, aided by the Chillicothe City Nuisance Officer and the Engineering/Building Department, led the operation which unearthed a significant amount of drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of substances suspected to be Methamphetamine and Fentanyl. The seized substances are slated for further examination and testing, with felony drug charges pending these results.

- David Caplinger, 65, of Chillicothe – permitting drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia
- Alex Hawk, 25, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments
- Talley Brown II, 40, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia
- Kaitlynn Graves, 22, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia
- Michael Reed, 38, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia
- Helen Seymour, 38, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia;
- Dustin Welch, 35, of Chillicothe – possession of drug paraphernalia.
Councilwoman Preston’s direct intervention reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to addressing and alleviating the narcotics menace.
