CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A woman was killed over the weekend after a head-on crash with a Sheriff’s deputy patrol car.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wilmington Post is investigating a tragic two-vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality. This devastating accident occurred on Saturday at around 01:22 A.M. on U.S. Route 22 near mile post 14, situated in Union Township, Clinton County.

According to the preliminary findings, “A 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Tessa Hicks, 25, of Clarksville, was heading east on U.S. Route 22. At the same time, a 2020 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, steered by Sergeant Terrance Meehan, 57, of Washington Court House, Ohio, was moving west on the same route,” stated Sgt. Donald Rack of the patrol. He further added, “The Hyundai unfortunately veered left of center, resulting in a direct, head-on collision with the patrol car.”

The aftermath was grim. Ms. Hicks tragically lost her life at the scene.

Several agencies, including the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, Wilmington Fire Department, Emergency Medical Service, and the Clinton County Coroner’s Office, assisted at the crash site.

The circumstances leading to this unfortunate accident are still under scrutiny by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
