PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A man led officers on a chase in Pike County after a robbery minutes after getting out of prison.
Waverly Police Department arrested Zachary Boone, the prime suspect in a string of criminal activities. The culmination of this intense pursuit unfolded at 10:56 a.m.
The chain of events commenced with a “Be On the Look Out” report for a stolen 2006 Saturn Vue from Piketon. Police were told the suspect was just released from a local prison, was a male, attired in white, from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
What ensued was a dynamic sequence of events, as officers, actively patrolling the area, received a distress call from Valero reporting a robbery. The suspect, fitting the earlier description, swiftly fled the scene in an SUV, triggering a collaborative response from Waverly officers and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. The ensuing pursuit led to the apprehension of Boone near Depot Street, despite a dramatic crash during the course of events.
He now faces a spectrum of charges, including Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, and Felonious Assault, all filed through Pike County Court.
