HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — A Vinton County man was killed over the weekend in a crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens Post is currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened on Saturday.
Joseph V. Deirfield, 29, McArthur, was heading southbound on Middlefork Road near State Route 180 in Hocking County. Deirfield lost control, crossed the centerline, veered off the left side of the road, colliding with a ditch and multiple trees, ultimately overturning and coming to rest on its top, troopers said.
The Hocking County Coroner’s Office pronounced Deirfield deceased at the crash site.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received support from Hocking County EMS, Laurelville Fire Department, and the Hocking County Coroner’s Office at the scene.
As of now, the crash remains under investigation.
